Teenage boys with hypertrophy of growth have taken weekly injections of 250 mg of testosterone enanthate throughout a yearand seen dramatic improvements in all measures of strength and muscle mass. The effects of this treatment were first documented in 2001. Two years later, however, results of a 12-week randomized trial suggested that the treatment was not superior to placebo and that the most effective response was to maintain treatment at 3mg/kg/day, testosterone enanthate 250.5 In addition, results from a 10-week trial have shown that a single injection of 1,200 mg testosterone enanthate at the time of puberty can significantly affect skeletal muscle mass and strength of adult men, testosterone enanthate 250.6 The latter trial included 17 men (18–20 years of age) who were treated with the 3mg/kg dose and showed that an average increase of more than 80% was seen in both strength and lean mass, testosterone enanthate 250. At the time of the trial, the average testosterone level in the adult male population was 50 ng/dL. At the end of the 10-week trial, the average testosterone level was 56 ng/dL and the results suggested this dose of testosterone may be beneficial to adolescent boys with hypertrophy, enanthate testosterone 250.6 The study and results of the study in males seem to be supported by a study in young girls, in which a placebo arm of the study that was similar to the testosterone arm had no effect (Table ).7 However, the study included a small number of subjects with severe acne with elevated free testosterone: the response was greater for the treated group than for those with mild acne (P<0.0005). A large trial in children followed by a larger trial in adults was conducted using a combination of high-dose testosterone (200–500 mg/kg/day) and a placebo (PV = 2.6).8 There were no statistical differences in the magnitude of change between the two groups at 1 year.9 Another trial on the same topic found that the treatment of a group of young teenagers with acne (aged 12–16 years) and their parents reported that the dose of high-dose testosterone given to all of the patients improved both acne severity and acne response scores.10 In a small trial of 16 boys, 5 of whom were treated with high-dose testosterone enanthate and 6 of whom were treated with placebo enanthate, it was demonstrated that a single injection of 50 mg of testosterone enanthate on the first day of puberty led to a mean increase of more than 40% in the muscle strength/weight ratio, muscle mass, and bone size of these boys, testosterone enanthate 250mg benefits.4 One of these patients (age 16) had already begun testosterone and
Testosterone enanthate half-life
The half-life of testosterone cypionate (test C) is 12 days compared to that of testosterone enanthate (test E), which is 10-11 days, with not much of a large differenceat this point. In contrast, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) (10 to 15 nmol/L; 1 to 10 ng/L) is produced via the action of androgen-sensitive androgen receptors in the testes, testosterone enanthate administration. It binds to androgen-sensitive and estrogen-dependent enzymes, and then converts to DHT via a dehydrogenase reaction. It does this by interacting with androgen-receptor-containing proteins, thereby converting androgen-induced dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to DHT, testosterone enanthate 12 week transformation. The effects of DHT are to improve the potency of androgens to regulate the levels of other sex hormones, thus leading to increased production of androgens in both men and women, testosterone half-life enanthate. The mechanisms that lead to the elevation of DHT levels are incompletely understood. In contrast to DHT, testosterone has been demonstrated to decrease androsterone levels in the presence of both androgen-sensitive and estrogen-dependent enzymes, testosterone enanthate half-life. The results provide evidence that testosterone treatment may lead to substantial increases in DHT in both men and women. Conclusion Contrary to commonly held views, there are several studies showing an increase in testosterone levels following treatment with testosterone, despite the fact that it is generally not considered a clinically useful treatment for men and women. As testosterone treatments are typically administered for long periods (up to a year) it is important that long-term studies, which are well designed and that include a large number of patients, be conducted, testosterone enanthate 300mg/ml. Given recent advances with in vitro and in vivo gene-targeting studies, the future potential of testosterone therapy is becoming clear.
